Patients Emergency Room and Hospital offers inpatient medical services to patients whose conditions require overnight stays, or even longer. Most of the patients who are admitted enter through the emergency room, where serious medical conditions can be evaluated and stabilized and treatment begins promptly.
When hospitalization is recommended, communication between the ER and the inpatient teams is streamlined so that additional diagnostics, medical treatments, and pain control are not interrupted. Our hospitalist physicians and nurses offer the same high-level care to admitted patients, no matter the length of treatment required.
Some of the kinds of conditions that we commonly admit to our hospital for further treatment include:
- Cardiac conditions, including chest pain and shortness of breath
- GI issues, abdominal pain not requiring surgery, colitis, diverticulitis, vomiting and dehydration
- pneumonia and respiratory complaints not requiring an ICU
- Cellulitis (infections of the skin)
- Advanced urinary tract infection (pyelonephritis)
- Electrolyte imbalance
During their hospital stay, patients receive dedicated nursing care 24 hours a day. And every inpatient room is private and includes its own bathroom and shower. Family members or friends wishing to visit a patient during their stay will find the facilities to be quiet, comfortable, and inviting. Some patients are admitted directly to an inpatient bed without being seen in the emergency room. These “direct admits” are the result of careful coordination between a primary physician and our hospitalist physicians.
A significant amount of communication and logistics are involved in creating the almost “seamless” transitions our patients experience during their care at Patients Emergency Room and Hospital. We are proud to have the finest nurses and doctors on staff, all of whom share the same philosophy about compassionate, timely, and efficient care of each and every patient.
Occasionally, a patient’s illness or injury may require specialties or surgical attention not currently available at Patients Emergency Room and Hospital. We can arrange expedited transfer to the most appropriate specialist at one of many nearby hospitals.
